This book has made my list of all time faves. It was AMAAAAZING. I've never read anything written in quite the same style as Mr. Zusak writes - can the style be described as "fun" even though the story takes place in Nazi Germany?? This book is categorized as "teen fiction" but I have no idea why. I'm .... well ... considerably older than "teen" and I loved it. p.s. The first 20 or so pages of the book may have you all confused, but don't panic -- press on. You'll be glad you did. This book has made my list of all time faves. It was AMAAAAZING. I found this book on a list of the 100 best books ever or something like that. I gotta say - I just don't get it. It was dark and dismal and down right depressing. You know all those movies that get tons of Academy Awards and then you watch it and you go, "huh??" I think it was like that. Or maybe I'm just not sophisticated enough.... :) I must admit - I couldn't finish it. I think I'd have slit my wrists if I had to read it until the end.I found this book on a list of the 100 best books ever or something like that. I gotta say - I just don't get it. A good program. You just have look beyond the author's failed attempted at witticism. And if you read carefully, you'll find many inconsistencies in the book. But if you use the general theory, it'll work out for you - or it did for me anyways. I lost 14 pounds in two weeks. It goes a lot slower after than (of course I'm allergic to exercise).A good program. You just have look beyond the author's failed attempted at witticism. Cute, but I read too many of these Flavia books in a row and got bored. Red Herring with Mustard was my fave.

It was a good story line and great characters - as always with Wilbur Smith. But.. again, as always with Mr. Smith, too much detail. Or maybe I just wasn't in the mood. During the last 50 pages or so, I just wanted it to end already for heaven's sake. But all in all, I liked it.It was a good story line and great characters - as always with Wilbur Smith. I couldn't even finish the thing. I think the story had some potential but was so full of holes I just didn't buy it. And WAAAAY too much self reflection by the author. Every page had a paragraph devoted to, "oh is it him? could it be him? am i crazy? it looks like him?" etc. I just got tired of the whole thing about half way through.I couldn't even finish the thing. Good story. Kept my interest and I'd look for other books by Mr. Shelby.

Call me sexist - I'm always a little concerned with a female author writing suspense because more often than not the female lead character is too much of a suck and there ends up being waaaaaay to much romance. But I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It kept my interest - a good story - and some very graphic sex scenes don't hurt. I would read more of hers.Call me sexist - I'm always a little concerned with a female author writing suspense because more often than not the female lead character is too much of a suck and there ends up being waaaaaay to much romance. Someone recommended this book to me so I ordered it. When it came in, I discovered it was a "fantasy" novel, not my genre. However, it was the only book I had at the time, so I thought I'd give it a try. WOW. It was hard to put down. It is a story told by Kvothe, now an adult, telling the story of his childhood. There's action, adventure, evil "beings", and just the right amount of magic (don't worry - no magic wands). This is a trilogy - the second book was released in March 2011 (A Wise Man's Fear).Someone recommended this book to me so I ordered it. An easy read - it'll make you laugh and make you cry. It's a story about a slightly disfunctional family following the death of a son - told from the point of view of a teenage boy. He's quirky but very entertaining.

Summary:
This book started out great with the emotion you always find in a Jodi PIcoult book. About a third of the way into the boook, it seemed someone else took over the writing. The content of the book was very interesting and thought provoking, but it was without depth. "This happened, then that happened and he said this, and she said this.... blah blah blah." I can't put my finger on exactly what was missing, but there was something.........This book started out great with the emotion you always find in a Jodi PIcoult book. A story about the first unions in the early 20th century. It wasn't a book that you can't put down, but very interesting just the same. The characters were fantastic.
