Not the best Mel Brooks movie.

So much better than the later musical version --ugh---starring Nathan Lane and the especially amateurish acting of Matthew Broderick. Don't waste your time on that version, or, even better, watch and compare both versions for a master…

Famous comedians. Think everyone has seen excerpt of Hitler in Springtime. Commentary. Remake later.

Absolutely, totally, freaking hilarious!... Dick Shawn steals the show as thee, hands-down, craziest hippie/beatnik Hitler that you can ever imagine (?!?)... He literally gives thee most under-rated performance that I have ever seen in…

after getting swept away by Mel's recent autobiography i had to revisit barely appreciated (by me originally) Producers, turned around 180 degrees by the bonus featurettes. bottom line suggesting esp the dvd's outstanding second disk's…

One of the worst comedies I've ever seen. NOT funny at all. Terribly bad for the first thirty minutes. I just can NOT stand it any more.

This is the first time I’ve seen it all the way through without distraction or interruption, and sober. That this exists at all is ludicrous. That it became a Broadway musical is insane. I’m so glad both of those things happened.

too coarse for me, couldn't get past the first few minutes

I saw it the theater when it came out. This film is the funniest film I have ever seen in a movie theater. Non stop nonsense. Lots of fun, great story, and great acting by Zero. If you have never seen this version, please give it a…

GOOD 1968 Mel Brooks movie - plot a little bit too whack for me, but fun performances by the cast, etc.

See this one, not the remake with Matthew Broderick. Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder have chemistry, and this Mel Brooks vehicle is one of his funniest. Great supporting cast like Kenneth Mars and Dick Shawn also don't hurt. Bialystok &…

Wonderfully funny and daring. As Brooks says in the extras: "When you go up to the bell, ring it, or don’t go up to the bell." Watch the extras for info on how it got made and how Peter Sellers helped the film promo.

The lunatic original, released in 1968 and starring the wonderful and uniquely appealing Gene Wilder as the hapless Leo Bloom, a wide-eyed, innocent accountant who falls under the spell of manic father figure Max Bialystock, played with…

Before the Broadway musical, there was this movie, written and directed by Mel Brooks, and starring Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder. It is hysterical, one of the funniest movies ever made, and one of my favorite movies of all time! The…

I was in the room when my brother brought out the movie "The Producers". I thought of what the heck lets take it easy and watch a flick. Before I knew it we were all laughing so hard we were encouraging others to come into the room to…

Mel Brooks has been writing and directing movies for over 50 years. What started all this success is the full length movie "The Producers". Up to that point Mel Brooks did writing and acting of sketches on the Steve Allen Show. He also…

Given the reputation which preceded its final arrival at my eye-balls, this was a bit of a disappointment. I hasten to say it was still "good", just not the incredible laugh-fest one expected. Good, yes. Funny, yes. Worth seeing, yes. One…

Uneven black comedy. Fans of Mel Brooks's other films will enjoy it.
