It's a bleak world this author lives in...not a likeable character in this story, but faux personal insights into aggravating portrayals ...decidely second division writing

She has a knack for coming at a story slowly but building towards the climax. Most of her books involve close observation of humanity and the deep fallibility of same. I think she is an excellent student of human nature. If she wrote…

Very slow and bizarre start. Hard to get into the book. Eventually we get use to the pace (slow). The end is not very well resolved. It's a very unsettling ending. I can't say that I liked it much.

I have lijked her other characters better but Alex Morrow is growing on me. I really love this author and it gives me a definite picture of Glasgow.

This was my first Denise Mina book and I really enjoyed it. So much so that I have placed other titles on hold so I can learn the history of the characters Alex Morrow, her family plus her police colleagues.

Not bad, but not exactly scintillating, either. Read it if you have nothing else to do.

The latest instalment of the DS Alex Morrow series. Set in Glasgow, this is a smart, engrossing addition as we continue to follow Alex's career as a homicide detective & her home life where she & her husband await the arrival of twins. As…
