Why should I look down my nose at this thing? The pithiest answer would be ‘Watch 1960’s “Sunrise at Campbello,”’ a sanitized, cheaply made (and arguably hokey) cinematic impersonation of FDR and Eleanor and you will see Bellamy and…

Based on letters posthumously found under the bed of FDR's 100-year old cousin Daisy, this is an intimate and provocative look at their relationship. Bill Murray is great here and was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance.

The movie was OK, but kinda dull.

Even if you don't like hot dogs, you will love this movie about FDR and his affair with a distant, distant cousin, Daisy Suckley. Bill Murray does a suprisingly good job with the role of FDR, and Laura LInney is spectacular - as always -…

Murray was great. How many Presidents would serve the King & Queen of England a hot dog? Surprised to see that Eleanor and the Queen smoked. Movie was lacking as it never showed the political side of the presidency, not that I wanted too…

It looks they used the relaxing countryside to make a nice film that actually unfolds as a boring, and probably inaccurate fiction as some describe about the past USA president FDR--the script is not that great, cinematography is just…

I liked it for the story it told - fiction. Relationships in a time and place distant but not so different from here. now. But, if it is as historically inaccurate as other reviewers describe, I can see why it is disturbing. Lots of…

Amid the chaos of a hectic presidency, we see how FDR cherishes his time away from Washington at his home in Hyde Park. A nice look into his private life regarding his relationships with cousin Daisy and wife Eleanor. Film represents the…

Slow and uncomfortable at times, it still is worth watching the Royal visit sequences. Bill Murray showed his acting chops taking this role on. Historical accuracy, however, lost out to creative license in this one.

What a complete waste of time. If you know your history of the 1939 Royal visit this isn't it. I could list endless errors that destroy the storyline. One star, it helped me fall asleep!

If you know anything about King George and Queen Elizabeth's visit to the United States in 1939 you know that this film lacks historical accuracy. The superimposition of the relationship of FDR and his fifth cousin Daisy is also very…

Presidents fool around? Who knew?? I am wondering if the King eating a hot dog was some kind of metaphor. Taking one for the empire I guess.

Interesting bio-info on FDR,.. and a good feel for the tempo of that crucial time in history. Murry a revelation ! This film is a good companion piece to a viewing of "The King's Speech",..right afterwards. (... and the latter is much…

I found this film very disturbing because it created a nostalgic tone in regard to adultery, and betrayal. -spoiler alert- To add to my general repulsion of the characters', well, lack of character, the beginning of the end for me was…

Good. I enjoyed watching it very much. Bill Murray was terrific. It provides a view of what life was like in a comic way in the earlier half of the 20th century.

Very hard to tell how accurate this might be: best just to enjoy it as fiction. If you can ignore the rather dubious morals.

Very difficult to sit through. A weird movie, everything was off here. Laura Linsey and bill Murray were both good, but the characters and storyline were awful. The only part of the story that was any good was the British royalty who…

I can't really think of any film that Bill Murray's been in, no matter how good or bad the movie, that I haven't appreciated his contribution to. The man's a pro. This one was no exception. Same goes for Laura Linney. And, yeah, the plot…

Essentially the memoir of a woman named Daisy who learns she isn't the president's only mistress. Scenes without Daisy are conjecture at best. Scenes with Daisy may be a bit inflated. Extraordinary work by Bill Murray and Laura Linney,…

I'm a fan of Bill Murray & Laura Linney and I thought they were very good. Some of the other casting was uneven. For example, the actress palying Eleanor Roosevelt was too young and too pretty. I liked this movie very much. It has a…

Bill Murray does a fine turn as FDR in this little slice of Americana.
