Think trees are just hanging out quietly in the forest minding their own business? Think again. They are communicating with each other, sending warnings about predators, raising up saplings, and even sharing nutrients in a hive mind sort…

I picked it up simply to expand my reading genre, and I have to say it really inspired my interest in nonfiction and nature. You can tell Wohlleben is passionate about trees, and that rubbed off on me as well. I think you have to be…

This book is all about trees. More specifically, how they communicate, cooperate, and compete with each other. It presents new research on trees, as well as the author’s own experiences with forests to provide a unique window on how trees…

Beautiful description of the multiple ways in which trees communicate with each other and other beings that inhabit and surround them. It was fascinating to learn of their intelligence and the interconnectedness that permits them to…

Beautiful and inspiring account (with evidence) of just how evolved and communal and sophisticated trees actually are. Very humbling -- and sad in many ways, knowing what we humans have done to these majestic creatures for all of…

What a wonderful book! 5 stats are not enough! It has been slow reading, because every page is full of information and I keep going back and re-reading. I feel like the author is talking to me, telling me this wonderful story. The…

Narrative style scientific information all about trees (including species, how/where they grow, what helps/harms them). Translated from German, author‘s humour and passion still evident. Book itself beautiful hardcover, good font and paper.

Loved this book, but then I love trees. Easy to read with lots of information.

An interesting concept and analogy to the human life cycle and emotions, but got a bit too detailed and pedantic for me.

While grounded in the author’s German forest, everyone who aspires to become more familiar with local natural habitats will benefit reading this accessible science writing. And gain a wider perspective beyond our human-centric view of the…

Another tale of what happens when you put a dollar sign on nature. Ignore Mother Nature at your own peril.

Groundbreaking works often receive a polarized response, as here. Though if you are ready for it, the author's observations are stunning.

Tells an easy to read story based on scientific studies and years of observation about the lives and interdependence of trees. Fascinating read of the real ways they communicate and support each other through their physical structures and…

Everything you could possibly want to know about trees. 🌳Much of it was fascinating.

Yes there is some charm in the book but a lot of anthropomorphism that was put me off. The book would be of interest to an adolescent reader who would be more charmed by the magic going on in the forest. As an adult, the book is worth a…

Full of super interesting factoids! However, read like a text book with added fluff. Learned so much about trees and other plants when I wasn’t falling asleep. This book is not for the faint of heart.

This is an intriguing read on how plants are just as responsive and intelligent as animals, but in their own unique ways. Theirs is a life in the slow lane, but that doesn't mean they're completely sedentary or don't know when an animal is…
