I didn't like the movie. I agree that is in the 1950's and times were different then - especially for Jews. But the movie had no meaning except running from conflict. He ran from his roommates, and the dean and eventually he gave up his…

"Indignation" seems to grab the style of Philip Roth quite well - especially his sexual relationship fetishes. Winesburg College seems like a good stand-in for the actual place Roth attended - Bucknell College in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

A snap-shot of a period in an east coast college freshman's life. He's now attending a midwest college in the 1950's. Well written but not a movie with a neat resolution type ending.

A movie about a fella who is infatuated with a beautiful young lady. It's a movie set in a conservative time. I liked the cast, but I thought the film itself was ok.

A rather pointless attempt to tell the story of a young atheist Jewish fellow whose father drives him nuts while he attempts to find his path in life at college. In the end, you have learned nothing, not even how he survives...or…

Really good movie; its hard not to fall in love with main character's love interest: Olivia. Both main characters are vulnerable and real, flaws and all.

I'm astonished by some of the comments from my fellow-viewers. Seems like the movie evoked "loves" and "hates," and not much in between. Me? I LOVED it. This is a psychological film, as was the book on which it is based. Obviously, things…

A sad, unmemorable story about a Jewish College student at a Christian College who falls in love with a crazy pretty girl. And then it’s get’s more sad. Kind of boring.

Olivia certainly did know how to make a new student welcome at college. Too many dark scenes at the end. Had to guess at the ending. Olivia had an interesting bedside manner at the hospital. Spoiler alert did Olivia impregnate herself?…
The acting is right on, especially that of Tracy Letts.
Perhaps I should have read the book, or maybe it is just too intellectual for me. I got lost at the end, which of course was the beginning.
With prior comments spread across the spectrum perhaps eclectic as a descriptor for this screen adaptation of a Philip Roth book might be appropriate. A period piece and coming-of-age story, Indignation leaves the viewer with much to…

A young Jewish man, an atheist, went to college on scholarship to avoid being drafted into the Korean War. While at college he faced challenges in love, religion, and family issues. This is a talky film, and I actually fast-forwarded a…
Well done Philip Roth book adaptation with one of the most interesting 18 minute scenes between protagonist Marcus (Lerman) and the university chancellor (Lett) who believes Marcus is having trouble "fitting in". Subtle issues of…

I found this movie touching and thought-provoking. It's set with the Korean War as a backdrop, and the brief, dark combat scenes are a little puzzling at the beginning. But what unfolds is a tale in which a Jewish kid out of his element in…

So apart from the sex and the war, this movie could also represent how people with mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, even addiction, were treated back then. It's not a 5 star but definitely worth watching.
