Can't find fault with the actors and its beautiful cinematography but the story was a big mess though based on the celebrated author Daphne du Maurier's mystery novel of same name. Issue was that Rachel was made out to…

Already one of my favorite books, and the movie did not disappoint. Sam Claflin perfectly portrays Philip, an orphan who falls madly in love with his cousin Rachel (Rachel Weisz at her most stunning) who may or may not be a murderess. The…

If you are a fan of Daphne Du Maurier ("Rebecca"), then you'll enjoy this similarly dark and mysterious love story. Rachel Weisz was brilliant as the enigmatic Rachel, and I enjoyed seeing Holliday Grainger here after watching her in the…

I'm normally a sucker for romantic mystery and gothic atmosphere, but the pacing is so choppy and muddled that the film quickly loses steam. I was rather bored to be honest, a shame, considering the lovely production values.

Rachel Weisz's talents are wasted in this muddy Gothic romance/possible murder mystery as she plays a femme fatale, newly arrived from Italy, who's suspected of poisoning her former husband. Lots of arguing that leads to nowhere. The two…

Have not read the book by Daphne Du Maurier, nor do I remember seeing the two previous depictions (1952 movie and a 1983 four part tv mini series).
Although there was impressive quality acting, I found the young English man to have been…

We'd recommend this slightly, but not strongly. It just didn't have the impact we expected. The acting was good and the sets and costuming as well. It moved a tad slow (but that is expected) and built up, but the ending was not completely…
As seems invariably the case, this remake of a 1952 Burton/De Havilland film is less satisfying. Perhaps there will never be a replacement for the old black and white efforts. Having said this, Rachel Weisz plays the black widow very well…

Don't read any of the old comments as too many tell too much of the story (read them after watching). Just watch it without knowing anything. I didn't understand the DVD cover photo until finishing the entire film. I was surprised to find…

Man, I wanted to like this SO badly. I love Rachel Weisz and this had all the makings of a creepy Victorian thriller. However, all of this fell flat, resulting in a dull, predictable story.

I wanted it to be better, but not sure how. As others said below, its not the actors.... they did a fine job in their respective roles, the writing was just lacking for me. The movie starts and ends with the theme "did she or didn't…
