I liked this as much as every other Ian McEwan book I have read. The premise of how the relationship starts seems a bit unbelievable, but other than that I thought the characters were great.

An absorbing, often tense novel with Operation Gold?the tapping of Soviet lines in Berlin?as the backdrop. Approached with McEwan's characteristic attention to the awkward details of human interaction. Essential reading if you need to dismember a corpse.
