(Lyrics excerpt) - "There must be some way out of here.... Said the joker to the thief.... There's too much confusion.... I can't get no relief."
And, I ask you - Where would the psychedelic 60's be without the undeniable influence of electric guitarist-extraordinaire, Jimi Hendrix?
Putting great emphasis on the use of the "wah-wah" pedal and guitar amplifier feedback, Jimi Hendrix (almost single-handedly) was responsible for expanding the range and vocabulary of the electric guitar into areas where no other musician, before him, had ever ventured to go.
Needless to say - With his cherished Fender Stratocaster in hand, Hendrix will always be regarded by many to be one of the most influential electric guitarists in the entire history of pop music.
This "Best Of" CD contains 20 tracks in all which were recorded (and chiefly written by Hendrix) in the years between 1966-1970. Three of my very favourites are - All Along The Watchtower, Hey Joe and The Wind Cries Mary.
*Note* - In 1970 (at the age of 27), Jimi Hendrix died from a barbiturate overdose.
