VERY GOOD 1942 musical starring Judy Garland at age 20.
Judy really demonstrates some excellent acting skills to augment her singing and dancing. This is also Broadway star Gene Kelly's film debut.
The film is an MGM tribute to vaudeville, war and show biz. Lots of excellent musical numbers including 4'11" Judy doing 'Ballin the Jack' and 'How You Going to Keep Them Down on the Farm'.
The 1942 film reminisces about WWI and is supporting US participation in WWII - enlist or buy war bonds. A little odd plot twist with the Harry hand 'accident', but it still has a happy ending.
The 11 minute bonus film track 'Every Sunday' from 1936 has younger Judy doubling with Deanna Durbin. Some fun songs with Deanna doing operatic soprano singing while Judy swings. Well worth a watch.

I enjoyed this DVD. The story was strong. The characters had some depth. The actors did a great job! I enjoyed the music & dancing in the story.

My favorite kind of movie. It has a good story and the dancing is classic, especially when Judy performs "Balling the Jack" and other numbers.
