On the bright side, for once I figured out the murderer pretty early on, but it got boring waiting for the protagonist to do so. I was also distracted by the terrible grammar of all the cast. Characters are blue collar so I guess poor grammar goes with the turf. China is an interesting name for a pretty stolid and unimaginative protagonist. She is also obdurate and irrational and rather passive aggressive. The son of the man with whom she is living gets kidnapped and she holds out on informing the father. Because she has used a gun in the past to defend herself and thereby killed someone, she now hates guns and wants nothing to do with them. Like some silly ass form of pacifism even though it endangers her and more relevantly, other people. Also features the de rigueur oddball friend who believes in the supernatural (and by that I mean more than just religion). The most appealing/competent person in here was her friend Sheila or Smart Cookie.
