It is too bad, because I remember the book fondly. Though, truthfully, a lot of Roald Dahl's works contain some very dark or scary or just plain gross scenes, but feel toned down in presentation by his tremendous imagination and humor.
A very bizarre movie. The book is certainly better. That said, I don't think there will ever be a version than this one, but perhaps I'll be surprised in the future.
Bizarre and Annoying ...gave up midway. Very disappointing for a Disney film.
I watched this movie with my 8-yr-old daughter after reading Roald Dahl's book. It was disappointing, as there were several adaptations to the original story, and the movie was quite dark. The book is much funnier and entertaining.
interesting mix of live action and animation

^Don't listen to this sap. This is a great movie.
I couldn't watch this.
The colours are nice. I like Joanna Lumley. But I didnt' realize how kiddy this was. And then, oh brother, they started to sing. And there were bugs. And they all ran around like frantic little elves on Christmas eve, and it wasnt' sweet at all. I lasted maybe 25 minutes.
