Add a CommentThis was absolutely the most disjointed and worst scripted movie I have ever watched. It reminded me of a bunch of vignettes sewn together by some big Down Under scenery. The scenery did not make up for a terrible movie. Skip it and get Man from Snowy River if you want a well scripted movie with awesome Australian scenery.
Released in 1997, this fabulous 19th century-period drama has amazing scenery and beautifully lush costumes for the women. All the acting is top-notch and the plot kept me interested.
Great story, narration, photography, locations, costumes and textiles, glass, actors but who has the buttons? What was that all about?
Wonderful story and a great cast!
An enchanting tale, (with some unforeseen twists), lavishly scored and filmed, narrated by Geoffrey Rush. Cate Blanchett, fresh faced and at the dawn of her career, and Ralph Fiennes, another magnificent actor, were perfectly matched - two of a kind. If I didn't know better, I could've mistaken them for brother and sister. A memorable film. FIVE STARS.
Exceptional acting by Blanchett, Fiennes, and the supporting cast too. Mesmerizing music and cinematography. I have some issues with the script, but its flaws are minor compared with its virtues and originality.
Ralph Fiennes, Cate Blanchett
This is a love story about two dreamers.
It is about a priest and an independent businesswoman whose shared passion for gambling leads them down a road of romance, chance, and fate.
VERY GOOD Movie.
