A classic.

If you're looking for a relaxing movie for all ages to watch, this is the one for you. The animation is stunning (as with all Studio Ghibli films) and you'll love the characters, too.

"My Neighbor Totoro" is less a movie than a mood. The beautiful dreamscape created in this film is wholly engrossing, and the sense of warm nostalgia it evokes for childhood is soothing, like a warm blanket or a cup of cocoa. The story is a sweet affirmation of the power of imagination, as well as a loving nod to the Japanese reverence for nature.

A rich, tender, and well paced little drama with key fantastic elements; there could be many spin offs from the idea, that is, more stories including Totoro.

My Neighbor Totoro is fairly typical of Studio Ghibli films, combining elements of sadness with adventure and a little imaginative whimsy. It's a good one to start with and suitable for children (whereas Grave Of The Fireflies may traumatize).

An absolute joy of a film. Pure whimsy and a treat for all ages.

This film captures the essence of childhood, a time when play-filled days seem to stretch on forever, adult concerns are mysterious, and magic is perfectly plausible. The sisters' relationship is realistic: they are competing with each other one minute, then the next minute they are best friends. Totoro is adorable, but Catbus steals the show.

My Neighbor Totoro is a 1988 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and animated by Studio Ghibli. This film tells the story of a professor’s two young daughters (Satsuki and Mei) and their interaction with friendly wood spirits in post-war rural Japan. It’s a fun story that takes us back to when we were a child where our imagination would go wild and we were curious about what was out there. I would recommend this to everyone. It is very family-friendly so I would recommend this a must-watch. Rating: 5/5

I thought this was a very lighthearted movie with a very simple story line. It follows two sisters named Mei and Satsuki and what their life is like after moving to a new home. During their stay they come across spirits and one of them is a rabbit-like creature named Totoro. This is an adorable character in the movie as well as his little friends that look similar to Totoro. The little girls go looking around the new environment and explore the place. Their imagination lets them take a cat bus that flies in the air and takes them home. It’s a fun story that takes us back to our child when it was a simpler time where our imagination would go wild and we were curious about what was out there. That’s kind of the atmosphere My Neighbour Totoro gives. It is a wonderful movie and family friendly, I would give it a 5/5.

My Neighbour Totoro is an adorable and heart-warming film that was comedic, beautiful, and cheerful to watch. While being fantastical and fun with the “forest spirits”, Totoro and his friends, the story had a serious plot line as well which provided depth to the film. With that being said, the film was also very heart-warming for its plot revolving around family and how you have support when you may feel alone and scared, even if that support comes from magical forest spirits. The sisters, Mei and Satsuki, are such an amusing duo to watch on screen. They’re incredibly funny, cute, and engaging, and their pursuit to find forest spirits is incredibly charming and enchanting; their characters and the story were written perfectly! The animation in the film is also incredibly gorgeous. The colours and art are bold and stunning to watch, and the animation feels refreshing. Overall, this film will definitely make you smile, laugh, and feel warm inside! 5/5 stars.

Mei, the younger sister, was my favorite character. She was so precious and funny! This movie made me feel like a child again.

Is it even possible to watch this movie without getting all warm and fuzzy inside?

Sexual Content: I don't know if you would count this, but a father and daughters are shown taking a bath together. It's not meant to be sexual, but they are naked (you don't see anything private, and it's not graphic; the more substantial nudity is covered with soap bubbles, etc.).
