According to Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull's front-man and chief songwriter), Thick As A Brick (TAAB, for short) was intended to be his idea of a spoof, mocking concept albums from the likes of such progressive rockers of the day as Yes and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

If this is really so, then Anderson's apparent attempt at generating humor (through TAAB's lyrics) was certainly lost on me. I found his lyrics, which seemed to be written in nonsensical riddles, to be some of the driest examples of humor imaginable.

On the other hand - From a strictly musical point of view, TAAB certainly had its fair share of interesting moments. And, with that, I was not at all disappointed as a listener, in the long run.

Released in 1972, TAAB consists of just one prolonged song that spans this album's entire 44-minute playing time.

TAAB would be Jethro Tull's 5th studio album. It marked the absolute peak of the band's popularity, which began to seriously wane in the years that followed.
