Add a CommentWhile it's wonderful that the book features a mom in a nontraditional career, the book itself sometimes feels a bit more like it's listing educational information (on fire safety and on what firefighters do) than telling an actual story.
It's so great to see a female firefighter in a book for very young kids. My 3-year-old daughter wants to be a firefighter and there aren't many picture books that represent women. This book shows the day in the life of firefighters through the eyes of a young boy whose mother is a firefighter. It's upbeat, and a palatable read for adults. My daughter asks for it again and again!
