I enjoy Tasha Alexander's novels very much....suspense, mystery mixed with historical facts!

This was another reasonably entertaining mystery starring Lady Emily Ashton. The change of setting from London to Vienna made for a nice change, and it was fun seeing some famous historical figures, including Empress Sissi of Austria, making appearances. I thought the mystery was marginally stronger in this one too, compared to previous volumes. My main complaint about this series remains that, while the books make for pleasant enough reading, they lack a certain sparkle to make them truly memorable. Still, a nice choice for fans of cozy historical mysteries.

Disappointing compared to the first two novels - Emily's actions strain credibility and Colin comes off weakly. In fact the whole plot seems ill-thought out.

Interesting story of spies and murder in Victorian England would seem to make this read a delightful conundrum. However, some of the more caustic characters seem to be just so one dimensional and horrible, that there is no redeeming traits in their personalities. While the others that surround the main character seem to be so obviously nice they are bordering on obsequious at their best, saccharine at their worst. Surely this author could have provided a better balanced character study and story to reward faithful readers.

The third of the book in the series. I found this was much more exciting than the second one probably because it was set in Austria, not just England, and had a mix of interesting characters.
