Hit and Run --- by --- Lawrence Block.
Block has produced another novel about executioner for hire Keller that makes you hold your breath and hope for the best for our man. Hired to kill a man in Des Moines, Keller finds himself set up, betrayed and framed, without money, on the lam, with his face pictured on every TV and in every newspaper. He must use all his ingenuity to make his way, below the radar, to his home and safe place in New York City. Only when he gets there he finds his apartment ransacked and plundered. Alone, he goes underground, furtively.
The story is a good one. Block has Keller overcome one obstacle after another. Just when he’s safe he’s not. You’ll find it hard to put this book down. For sure you’re going to tear through it real fast
The good thing about Block: he’s prolific.

A ready -to-retire hit man/stamp collector - what's not to like. Despite much of the book being focussed on him being on the run, the story holds together well. I particularly liked Dot, a very savvy secondary character.

Over half of the book detailed how a framed hit man escaped the law and the crooks who set him up. On the run, he saved a woman under attack in a park and began a new life ... A pleasurable read.

Part of Block's series about John Keller. In this book, John is on the run as he's been framed.
