Great survey of the current state of knowledge as of very few years ago. Terrific color plates and a computer DVD with superb graphics. Would make a terrific coffee table book if one owned it. Introductory information on a lot of topics, but if you want deeper knowledge you have to dig elsewhere. However, that is what the book says it means to do and it does the job well.

The information is basic, but the images are excellent.

Detailed, but not overly technical. Possibly the most interesting chapters are on the functions of the various sections of the brain.
