Enjoyed the costumes, music, and scenery. The story varies from trite to purely silly, a romance novel within a romance novel, and I found myself laughing a lot. It was all fun, even the death scene following the rescue of the pure white cat in the pure white snow.

Should have listened to the reviews. The actress was selfish and immature and this movie useless waste of my time.

Melodramatic to a fault--truly obnoxious "heroine."

What a weird movie indeed. It let me indifferent, I don't know if I liked it or not, like others said. I didn't like the main characters, but the one of Nora and the editor. I was curious to see Fassbender and Garai in that movie, and I saw what I wanted. They were so young it it!

Angel is totally annoying, I was somewhat curious to see if she finally gets her comeuppance. But honestly, I just couldn't stand to watch it that long, even with the fast forward.

Agreed, I used more of the fast forward than watching. The poster is beautiful: the dress is amazing. --- Perhaps the film would appeal to someone who believes men are horrible; that a female artist cannot find sustaining love and support from a man. But I have found that theme better expressed in less shallow films.

What a weird movie… Like one reviewer wrote, it is kitsch and melodramatic. But what else could one expect from a weird, kitsch, melodramatic person like Elizabeth Taylor? Angel is spoiled, selfish, nuts—just like Taylor seemed to be. Angel’s mother was a servant, something to be used and not even mourned when it was over. I realized I was using the fast forward more than watching the movie, so gave up.

What a Great Movie. Romola Garai was fantastic as usual. The way she portrayed the Whimsical and often innocent part of this Character was very amazing.

this is the 6th Ozon film I've watched but it didn't work for me. I liked the others but this one is kitschy and melodramatic - best in fast forwardx8.

Watching this film is kind of like reading someone's diary: you're not sure if you "liked" it or "disliked" it - or whether or not you can even rightly form an opinion.

But to be less philosophical, it's an attractive film for its eye candy (the production design, Romola Garai & Michael Fassbender, the wardrobe...) but *definitely* unusual.

The director chose to visualise the story from Angel's particularly melodramatic and self-biased (skewed) perspective so you can't take the film/story at "face value". If you do you'll be either disappointed or won't be able to finish the movie. If you *don't* you'll laugh a lot and be still thinking about this film for days afterwards.

Not for everyone, but if you are a bit more of sophisticated and patient viewer, you'll be glad you gave it a chance.
