I didn't think this was very interesting. I have seen some good documentaries about Madoff himself and his actions and have found them quite enjoyable and informative. Much of the substantive content of this piece was also covered in them.

I recommend the Frontline film.

This is a 2010 documentary about the infamous scandal of Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme.
At 8:30 AM on December 11, 2008, two federal agents entered the New York City penthouse of 133 East 64th Street and arrested Bernard Madoff, the admitted mastermind behind the largest act of financial fraud in world history.
Ten years prior, Boston-based securities analyst Harry Markopolos discovered that Madoff's make-money gimmick was a Ponzi scheme.
The film pieces together a chain of white-collar predetors and reveals some of the most frightening truths behind the infamous scandal.

I admire the whistleblowers who did not actually impact the enventual demise of Madoff. They spent YEARS trying to show what was going on and were ignored. I think others were almost as much to blame for the scheme Madoff was able to. It must be so frustrating to have done all this work but eventually all they got to say was "I told you so" as it was other things that actually brought about the end of this massive fraud.......

The man who never gave up trying to get authorities to look into Madoff's investment practices shares the story of how he and a few supporters tried to bring Madoff down. Also, we get a look at what factors in his nature and upbringing prepared him to overcome his fear and act with moral courage.

Compelling and infuriating. Mr. Markopolos and his associates were calling attention to Madoff's fraud a decade before charges were ever brought. The SEC and the media is largely damned as well, for really doing nothing until Madoff's house of cards collapsed around him. These people can be respected for the work they've done, and the documentary spells out their chain of evidence in a way that's easily grasped for those of us who aren't financially inclined. One very small quibble: did the editor really have to resort to quick cut edits periodically?
