it's got Rihanna in it, and that's a high point, doesn't get better from there.

I wish to emphasize the comment published on April 30, 2015: "Just another extremist, deeply narcissistic, and deeply racist, MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX brainwashing program, disguised as an action-packed adventure." I would add that this movie is typical of the 100% trash being produced today, disguised as "entertainment." The library should destroy all copies of this DVD. I would give this DVD no stars whatsoever. It is mind poison.

Filmed off Hawaii and on board of the Battle Ship Missouri. Pretty great special effects and decent plot though could do less of the romantic comedy bit. Box said 132 min long but 12 min were end credits.

Just another extremist, deeply narcissistic, and deeply racist,MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX brainwashing program, disguised as an action packed adventure. Our elite slave masters aka the ILLUMINATI,tapped your favorite toy maker Hasbro,to sucker you, your families, your friends, and most of all, your children,to join the USA military now more than ever before period. They pimped Rihanna to be in this celluloid, because they want a certain race of females to be more masculine than ever before;especially towards their own race of males that they viciously HATE in real life period.

A load of rah rah american military might bs. If you like pointless and endless battles with transformer like special effects, then this is for you. Otherwise, do something else with your time.

I wasn't expecting anything good, given all the crappy reviews. But I loved it, to my intense surprise. The battles were awesome, the special effects were spot on, and Rihanna was an interesting character. It was a very good movie, but admittedly a bit slow in the middle. Captain Nagata was AWESOME.

This movie was excellent. Not EVEN what I expected, but spot on. It was obviously fictional, but they made it work. Good job and a real good, feel good movie. The really BIG surprise for me, was Rihanna's performance. If I didn't already know who she really was, I could buy her as an actual service member. As for the Vet (dbl. amputee) in the movie... If you don't believe the Bravado from him & his character was real.... YOU probably never served!!!!! Now Run and Tell That!

This film had many things going for it, and it still ended up as a train wreck on the ocean. The double amputee? That's not a guy in green screen stockings, but a real war vet who lost his legs in Iraq. The shots on and in the USS Missouri? That's the -actual- ship. Yes, the one the Japanese surrender in WWII was signed aboard. They even got permission from the US Navy to tow it out into open water for filming! The special effects are admittedly good, and earned the only star that I could give the film. After all that, the script still causes so much cringing that you'll need a muscle relaxant afterwards. When Alexander Skarsgard looks like he was cast five minutes before they yelled "action", you've got some terrible dialogue. The plot twists itself into knots to try and make it plausible, but when the moment comes and you realize that they're actually playing real-life Battleship, you finish your drink... and you weren't even playing a drinking game.

Two things that will make this enjoyable for you. 1. Don’t even try to compare the board game to the movie. Think of it as an alien invading earth movie. 2. Don’t be afraid to fast forward large parts of the movie. Overall a very bad movie with a staggering budget. Don’t bother.
