Think about how easily we get lost. Now think about the fact that some languages have no words for left or right, instead using the cardinal directions (north, south, east and west and their variants) to give directions. Such people had to always know where they were in space. This long held human skill, navigation and placing oneself in the landscape has been largely lost in an age of urban jungle and GPS. This book is a refreshing attempt to reacquaint the reader with skills that, in previous cultures, would have been second nature by the time one had reached adulthood.
