FIVE STARS: Cascade follows through to be a fabulous sequel to Waterfall.

Normally series get progressively worse with each book...not with this one. All five of the books are bang on. Full of suspense, emotionally present characters, romance & intrigue that keeps building with each page.

Seriously, this series rocks in a big way. READ IT!!!

Should have ended with the first book
Cascade: A Novel (River of Time Series)was not nearly as engaging for me as the first novel-Waterfall was,and in my opinion this story along with the majority of books written should have been wrapped up in the first book!

I am sooooo sick of mediocre series where each succeeding book just gets worse and worse! I believe I am going to avoid series in the future and stick to 'stand alone' one book stories.I have only read two where the quality held up past the first book or two,so I do not believe as a general rule that it can even be done.Series are just a money-making gimmick, and are not ususually worth the reader's time.
I did enjoy the first book very much, this second one,I ended up skimming most of it after 1/3 in,got so sick of all the battles and gruesomeness. It is not a pleasant book to read. There just really wasn't much else that needed saying after the first third when then are reunited with their mom,so this story could have very easily been finished in the first book. There is no way I will read any more.

Sorry to say that I would not recommend this series, and I hope authors will stop writing them!

Amazing, addictive book! more intense than the first book, and just as interesting!! it grabs you on the first words and doesn't let go until the book is done! make sure you have the third book on hand before you finish this one, or it will drive you crazy waiting for it!! :) oh and dont read the second and third without reading the first.

Still addictively good. I'm excited for the next book and appreciate that the characters are not flat and the challenges of the time in history is not romanticized. Great series.

Some parts may seem unbelievable but it's still a great read. I mean, if you're going to read a book about girls going back in time, just believe the rest, too :)

An EXCELLENT read. If possible this book was better than the 1st book in this series, Waterfall. I highly recommend reading it.

What if you not only fell back in time... But you fell in love, too?

Gabi knows she's left her heart in the fourteenth century, and she persuades Lia to help her return, even though they know doing so will risk their very lives. When they arrive, months have passed, and all of Siena longs to celebrate the heroines who turned the tide in the battle against Florence - while their enemies will go to great lengths to see them dead.

Even in the midst of the battles, Gabi's heart is increasingly drawn to Marcello, just as Lia's is to Luca. In medieval Italy, the sisters discover things inside themselves that they couldn't seem to find in the present - connection with their mom, courage within, and the understanding that a life well lived often means encountering sacrifice. But in a world long past, many things still keep Gabi from giving Marcello her heart forever... and one thing in particular calls all three of the Betarrinis home.
