Seeing is deceiving in this 'deeply terrifying' film that reflects heart-stopping terror as you've never imagined! It's been ten years since the lives of siblings Tim and Kaylie Russell were shattered and Tim was convicted of murdering their parents. Now released from a mental institution, Tim wants to move on, but his sister has other plans. Kaylie blames their childhood nightmare on the Lasser Glass, an antique mirror with a grisly history, which she intends to destroy by any means possible.

The movie itself is very interesting considering it's about a mirror, but the director does a good job of adding suspense and a back story to the movie and the mirror itself. It's more suspenseful than scary, but does get quite graphic at times. I do not want to say anything more to ruin it, other than, it's definitely a enjoyable movie to watch!

One of the most thrilling horror films I have seen and now one of my favorites! If you like your horror films with more psychological suspense rather than cheap thrills, you will want to see this one! Interesting plot with lots of twists and turns. If you are annoyed by films that alternate between past and present, you may be confused at times by the plot, but this shouldn't take away from the overall suspense and horror elements that make the film so well done.

not "predictable" as some commentator suggests. another suggests a "twisty tale" that will keep you guessing (not predictable). just because you thinks the ending "sucks" that doesn't mean it was predictable... recommended if you enjoy your haunted horror stories more creepy, eerie & with a psychological edge

To truly enjoy this twisty tale you of course have to forgive the usual nonsensical horror conventions common to any "haunted thingamajig" story and writer/director Mike Flanagan manages to squeak by with a handful of satisfactory explanations couched within a script that is unexpectedly hair-raising once it gets going. But, above being an effective ghost story, Flanagan manages to pull off a small dramatic coup by running two parallel stories simultaneously—showing what really happened to the children all those years ago while at the same time showing an adult Tim and Kaylie entering the supernatural fray once again. The result is a dizzying montage of past and present as we see the kids running up stairs and hiding in bedrooms while their grownup selves do pretty much the same, all giving rise to an increasingly monstrous reveal which Flanagan wisely saves for the end. And those glowing-eyed creepies which seem to be around every other corner are pure nightmare fodder. Good scary fun!

bad

its okay to watch not bad but the end sucks
they could of made a better ending to the movie. Lots of hopping back from the past to the present. Sometimes is confusing. Acting was decent but no one was phenomenal. Predictable, very predictable.

This is an ok horror movie. The story alternates from past to present, making it hard to follow at times. Also, I found it a bit predictable.

Boring. The ending was terrible. I didn't like the way it kept bouncing back and forth between the past and present, illusion and reality.

I rated it "ok" because;
1. I liked the suspense in the movie as I kept watching to see what happens and what the whole story is about..especially the flashbacks

2. I was gonna rate it a 3..till the ending..I hated how it ended!

Auctioneer:

All right, and our next item for bid is a gorgeous antique mirror,
recovered from the Levesque Estate. The Lasser Glass is a
well-traveled gem. It spent several seasons adorning the walls at Balmoral Castle, Scottish home of the Royal Family. This is the original glass
and the original frame. The mirror is in remarkable condition, save for a small hairline fracture down in the lower right-hand corner. The frame is carved out of one piece of Bavarian Black Cedar. ...
