Erika is left in charge of her brother Patrick for her parent's night out. They go to the attic to play with animal costumes and later find a box under their bunkbeds that says "do not open" which of course they do. One animal after another comes out of the box. The animals stampede out of the house. The kids follow the animals to an unusual zoo where the animals watch humans rather than the other way around. The kids who are dressed as animals blend in until a guard notices they are humans. The animals chase them back home.

This book is illustrated in graphic novel style, but each picture is slightly larger. The pictures are colorful and interesting.

Almost immediately, this story reminded me a bit of Jumanji, however the story does not play out the same. The book is advertized as being a "gentle, fantastical adventure for the very youngest of readers" and is recommended for ages 5-7. However, the animal chase and the human skeleton at the zoo makes me disagree with this age range. It would be better suited for ages 6-8. It would be a good early reader book since there is simple vocabulary and few words per page.
