Overall not as well written as Pogue's other books on general life hacks and financial advice.

Wow your friends with some of these nifty tips and learn something yourself along the way! I especially like the highway exit sign tip and am going to practice tying my shoes differently so the don't come undone.

A good book for knowing some basic things which can save our time in using all the gadgets. Some might find it very basic, but the thing is some of the tips are really handy...

Too basic and a lot of them are pretty much available and known for years in Ted from his own lectures and better ones are omitted probably for a new volume...

I bought this cos it was 6 dollars; it is alright. Even though most of the tips are pretty basic, it has some interesting things included in it. If anything, skim through it, write down the tips useful to you and then put it down.

I read Pogue's Basics: Tech and it was VERY interesting...lots of tips. This one was also good, however, I knew most of the tricks.

Pogue’s Basics: Essential Tips and Shortcuts (that no one bothers to tell you) for Simplifying the Technology in your Life. --- by --- David Pogue.
It’s the basics all right. A little bit about smart phones: how to charge your Iphone battery in a hurry (in airplane mode); bit about iPads: why your iPad isn’t charging (use the wall plug that came with the iPad); cameras: when not to use the flash (whenever possible). And that’s part one: seventy three pages. And then the rest: two hundred and forty pages on computers. So really this is a book about computer tips and shortcuts. Some you already knew and some (especially the amateurs --- but not your kids) didn’t. Why you should never turn off your laptop? The magic of dropbox. How to type symbols. Free versions of Microsoft Office. Taking a picture of the windows screen.
Not the kind of book I was expecting given its lofty title. But a very helpful one none the less.

Excellent book, even picked up several shortcuts I was unaware of!
