A young orphaned girl wins the heart of her elderly grandfather when she joins him at his home in the Swiss Alps, but they are both overcome with grief when the child's cruel governess separates them; orphanage trustee, charmed by a curly-haired orphan and her older sister Mary, adopts both of them, only to find himself falling in love with Mary; a group of orphans find themselves entertaining on Broadway; a lighthouse keeper saves an orphan from a ship wreck and the town's new truant officer wants to place her in boarding school; a young girl's friendship with a wealthy neighbor saves her father's business during the depression; a young orphan is rescued by mounties after an Indian attack.
