Lester Horton Technique

The Warm-up

DVD - 1990
Rate this:
This video presents the warm-up techniques of the innovative dance training method of Lester Horton. Mr. Horton developed a training method that explores the many ways the body can move. Marjorie B. Perces, former Horton dancer and teacher, and Ana Marie Forsythe, chair of the Horton department at the Ailey School, lead a group of professional dancers through flatbacks, deep forward lunges, hip propulsion, 5/4 swing and more warm-up studies. The warm-up is the first step in learning the Lester Horton Technique and setting students on the path to achieving strength, agility, and flexibility. This is also an excellent way to do a non-aerobic workout and learn beautiful movements that help develop grace and free artistic expression with reduced muscle stress.
