I saw this in the theater and was really impressed. Great work by Jason Bateman, Rebecca Hall, etc. ** Beware any spoilers in other comments! Watch the movie before you dive into plot details. **

Superior for a Blumehouse production but that is due to the fine acting by most of the cast. It is worth a look, but structurally it doesn't deserve any raves like some of the reviews I am reading here. Well..to each his own.

Neat little thriller. Won't change your life, but nice to see Bateman in a dark, edgy role like this, and director/actor Egerton acquits himself well. Nicely shot and Rebecca Hall superb as always.

A thriller with an unusual twist.
You can be terrified by each individual character.

A good entertainment. The three principals (but above all a wonderful Rebecca Hall) put in some fine acting, and the director/writer Joel Egerton (who also plays one of the leads) has given them a good story and script to work with. Slowly builds up a sense of dread that keeps you guessing.

Simon Calum and his wife Robin move into a beautiful million dollar home in LA. One day Simon's old high school friend Gordon shows up. He invites them to dinner and they come to a huge mansion in a posh area of Beverly Hills. Afterward, jealous of Gordon's success, Simon berates him to Robin and calls him "Gordo", his old high school nickname. Simon also confesses he bullied Gordo in high school. Several things happen over the next few weeks, including Simon destroying the career of a counterpart in order to rise in the company. Gordo reveals Simon's betrayal to his boss who fires Simon, bringing his world crushing down upon him. Gordo also reveals Simon's brutal behavior to Robin who becomes distant from Simon. Meanwhile Simon becomes more violent, trying to find Gordo and realizing the house they had dinner in was not Gordo's at all. The part I really didn't like was when Gordo gives Simon the gift which turns out to be a video of him drugging and undressing Robin, then shutting off the camera. After years of unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant, Robin is finally pregnant, so the viewer is left to assume that Gordo raped her. Why? She's not Simon. She doesn't deserve his revenge. That kind of ruined it. It ends with Robin leaving Simon, but I wish the video and rape had never been part of it. I prefer to pretend he just wanted Simon to think that.

Characters:
Jason Bateman: Simon
Rebecca Hall: Robyn
Joel Edgerton: Gordo

Movie Plot:
The movie is about a married couple (Simon & Robyn) relocating to another state and unwillingly reconnects with an insistent gift giving school mate (Gordo). The annoying school mate (Gordo) repeatedly pops up unannounced to talk to Robyn & help Robyn with minute tasks around the house when Simon is away at work. Simon becomes bothered by Gordo’s persistence to be a part of their lives. Simon confronts Gordo and severs the relationship. Robyn finds out that her husband Simon was Gordo’s childhood Bully. Gordo is angered by Simon’s rejection and lack of accountability. Gordo begins to stalk/harass and create problems for the married couple.

I thought the movie was pretty good and worth watching.

-Normally, friendships grow organically. And if they don't serve both parties, they just kind of organically dissipate.
-Don't interrupt me, because I gotta power right through it and then you can talk right afterwards, okay?
-And then there are these. It's from the Bible. "Behold he who conceives mischief and brings forth falsehood." "He has dug a pit and hollowed it out," "and has fallen into the hole which he made."
Spoiler Alert:
-Or maybe I did. I don't know. See, I could tell you the truth. Maybe I didn't do it, but a liar won't believe anybody else, right? I think you just need to go and (intentional removed) It's all in the eyes, you see.
