Quirky, gentle and funny...loved it. Highly recommended for those looking for something beyond the usual offerings of beautiful people, sex and violence .

Just a lovely, sweet, and funny series. Gold!

Brilliant! One of the best Britcoms I've seen in years. Subtle, clever, funny, and delightfully weird.

Fabulous series, takes an episode or two to kind of get past the slower pace but truly a fun series. The humour is subtle, so not for Adam Sandler fans, but if you like quirky British fare then this is definitely worth a view. Rumours of a third series remain that, but I do hope they manage to put one together.

The casting is spot on and everybody seems to be having fun in their roles and it is kind of nice to see some not so familiar actors for a change. The BBC are truly the masters of this type of comedy.........if only CBC could come up with something for a change.

I'm at episode one, bored as being in hell. Thirty minutes wasted. Nothing really happens, nit funny

Quirky, dry-witted British humor. Series only lasted two years, but it is funny, laughable, and somewhat sentimental. 2 middle aged guys go metal detecting for a hobby - looking for treasure, but also a guy time collaboration. Their personal lives are a bit of a mess and their metal dectecting is quite competitive and possessive (rivalries, etc.) threatening the fun of their pastime - can the good times last? Good fun to watch.

It's Brit humor that not all American's much care for...very dry & often the humor is only something the Brit initiated get. There are times I find it bordering on ridiculous, yet I found myself laughing out loud. Toby Jones is a multi-talented actor with skills' that tend to grow on me. Detecting is a solitary, tedious search that can result in huge financial rewards, then the 'loot' ends up in the museum.

If you like sophisticated, dry British humour then this show is for you. Two ordinary guys, who some people might describe as losers, go about their hobby looking for a cache of Saxon gold beneath the fields of a village in Essex. Though their finds tend to be along the lines of buttons and pull tabs from the '70s, their real treasure is each other's company. Perfectly captures some men's ability to be intellectual, yet lack emotional intelligence. Andy and Lance remain lovable despite being often frustrating. In other words, perfect sit-com characters.

I love it! It’s different, refreshing, light-hearted, brilliantly written. BAFTA winning light comedy series written and directed by Mackenzie Crook, who also stars in the production alongside Toby Jones. It’s set in small fictional town of Danebury in northern Essex (England). With legendry dry British humour, they’re ordinary guys, always looking for historical gold, and to brighten up their lives. If you have a smattering of an interest in archaeology, history, wondered the English countryside, or ever joined a club who meets on Tuesday nights at the local scout hall, you’ll relate to the scenes, know the characters and good story lines. I love the characters and settings. Must see series 2.

Really enjoyable and low key comedy that actually delivers on some bona fide laughs and heartwarming scenarios.
