I was prepared not to like this series but was pleasantly surprised. It falls into the "cosy" category of mysteries as all of Christie's works do, but it's been updated to the 50's and is a very stylish version of an old favorite. The actors are excellent except for David Walliams (who's he?) as Tommy Beresford, whose low energy and bland countenance is a spectacular piece of miscasting. Not to be taken seriously (even by the actors), it's fun to watch them taking the mickey on dear old Agatha.

What a disappointment! I am just glad Agatha Christie is not alive to see this mutilation of her work. This has absolutely nothing to do with her series of books Tommy and Tuppence. It is no updating of her work, but a complete distortion. The characters, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, have nothing in common with the ones Mrs. Christie created. They are not likable and the humor that permeated the books has completely disappeared here. If you want to watch something closer to her original story, look for the 1983 TV series with James Warwick and Francesca Annis as the sleuth couple. It was not as lavish as this production, yet was much more enjoyable and kept the lightheartedness and fun of the original stories.
