This was a really high paced, page turner that I couldn't put down. George Hellebore got on my nerves though!
The Fleming estate authorized these books, and I think it stays true to James Bond form. Our future agent meets up with a Bond girl (neighbor Wilder Lawless) and a Martini (her horse) and even an Aston Martin. The story started slowly and was somewhat violent for the target audience (young adult). I might read another in the series, but won't go out of my way to find it.
Ian Fleming’s superspy James Bond has been featured as an adult in Fleming’s 14 books, 1 book by Kingsley Amis, 14 John Gardner books, 6 Raymond Benson Books, 1 by Sebastian Faulks, 1 by Jeffery Deaver, and 1 by William Boyd. Charlie Higson’s Young Bond books, starting with SilverFin, are the back story for James Bond, following the timeline in the Fleming books. There are a lot of references to the Fleming books, including Uncle Max’s Bamford and Martin car (Bamford & Martin is now known as Aston Martin), an opening sentence that parallels the opening of Casino Royale, and an appearance by May, Bond’s Future housekeeper. The plot of the book was very interesting, but a bit more sci-fi than the Fleming books I have read (the first 3), a bit more like Sean Connery Bond than Daniel Craig Bond. Overall, it was a very good book. Followed by Blood Fever, Double Or Die, Hurricane Gold, and By Royale Command, as well as a short story, A Hard Man To Kill.
By far the most boring James Bond book but it has also the best plot by far. No contest. I really liked this one. It was the best story, action. I think it was the most slow moving but had the most mystery to it!
Excellent book one in the Young Bond Series by British writer Charlie Higson. If you enjoyed this book, try Higson’s The Enemy book series starting with ‘The Enemy,’ simply awesome! Doctor-at-Bass! T. A.
these books are awesome!
the other books in the series are, in my opinion, just as good.
GREAT FIRST BOOK!
CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE REST OF THE SERIES!
