“What are you making?”
“Dover sole.”
“Does that taste fishy?”
“Well, it's a fish.”

“What are you doing now?”
“I don't actually know. I know that sounds ridiculous because I'm 32, but I don't know, I guess I'm still figuring it out.”
“Welcome to the club.”

(asking who Hugo is)
“He’s this ridiculously expensive physical therapist that Yvonne imported from France--”
“He’s from New Jersey.”
“--who has choreographed an entire exercise routine for me because what he really wants to do is dance.”
“Hugo made the mistake of telling Robert that he had been in a ballet corps when he was younger and now Robert can't take anything he says seriously.”
“The best thing you can do after knee surgery is just walk.”
“How do you know that?”
“Everybody knows it. The whole Internet knows it.”

(asking Helen if she knew about her husband's affair)
“I just have heard that there's a sixth sense that women have, you know, like a kind of aura?”
“You know, now that you mention it, there was a sort of rainbow shooting out of his d**k last summer. I probably should have paid more attention to that.”

“I added two creams and two sugars.”
“Great.”

“I made this mistake with my first wife. I wanted her to understand everything about me; when she didn't, that she had failed me somehow; that it wasn't true love. You've obviously been dealt a brutal hand and he may never be able to fully appreciate it, but there will always be something about him that baffles you.”

watched the first season - great. second season - watched first 3 episodes, so slow, skipped to last 3 episodes in series. very good. just watch those episodes, everything else in between slow and torturous. but i will watch season 3 because i find the characters very interesting and so human. overall - terrific acting!!

I am always intrigued as to what will happen next and it did end with a good cliffhanger. But, overall I did not like this season as much as the first. And, I do find the different narratives tiresome.

People are strange creatures and it's time for a second act. We pick up from where we left off. Helen and Noah are going through a divorce, while the affairs go on. Noah is under fire as he faces criminal charges for a crime he may or may not have committed, while Helen is creating her own personal hell and then digging her way out of it. She does what her mother says and plays into social obligations rather than making her own path … for a little while. Helen sees herself as a victim trampled by bullies. She plays the role of the good depressed single mother/daughter to a tee, but you can see the cracks forming until she becomes just as destructively flawed as her demonized ex-husband. But who is the real monster? Maybe it's neither Noah nor Helen. Is it Alison, the other woman hidden away in a cabin on the lake or a penthouse apartment, quietly contemplating circumstances in what should be paradise but decidedly isn't so as she starts to see her lover for what he really is? Or Cole, the recurring ex who refuses to bid adieu, a resistant thorn in Alison's side that she can't pull out for fear of bleeding to death? This show is all about deceit, both the little white lies and the whopping great ones. We bounce back and forth from perspective to perspective and again it is up to us, the audience, to decide who is telling the truth in this perpetual test of credibility. The more vantage points we have to view this complex tale of a disintegrating family from, the more interesting it becomes. We get a few newbies in the roster to become all the more tangled in this warped web of shattered relationships. This season is enthralling, even better than the first, with its twists and turns, especially in regards to the high-profile murder trial. Everything matters; all that foreshadowing decides the outcome. Welcome back to Montauk. I highly recommend the second season of THE AFFAIR.
