Like the movie Once in which Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová starred, this documentary film about them features great music and is heartbreaking and beautiful. The Swell Season follows their lives after the success of Once and their Oscar win for Best Original Song. I recommend the documentary for fans of Glen Hansard and/or Markéta Irglová. You should watch Once first if you have not seen that already. Do not adjust your television or screen; the documentary is in black and white. The Swell Season is not rated and contains language and nudity.

Too much dialogue, I got bored with it.

An excellent documentary, albeit slow in parts, about the pressures of fame and relationships. Definitely worth seeing if you enjoyed Once, but also worth seeing if you are interested in artists and the vagaries of fleeting celebrity.

I rented Once when it first came out, because several web sites praised the music - if not the story. The movie had outstanding music, and an enjoyable story. I was shocked and thrilled when they won the Oscar; but was not a fluke, but a deserved stepping stone. I hope that they continue to pursue their dreams – although they may have some rocky times!

I fell in love with Glen's music after seeing this then watched Once. The movie is very well done and has some great music in it.

If you've seen the movie "Once", which is excellent, you'll like this one. It's the same people, further along in their relationship. Really well done.
