It opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident, were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Very entertaining. Dan Fogler steals the show.

This is a reasonably entertaining movie with decent special effects and impressive period sets and costumes. I found the actors generally engaging--particularly Dan Fogler as jacob-- and I quite liked the idea of some sort of mega-Attenborough interested in all these beasts and anxious to prevent their extinction. However, I found parts of it underdeveloped and lacking sufficient depth or explanation. And what happens to the little orphan girl? Or maybe I'm getting jaded as far as the Rowling entertainment juggernaut is concerned.

Fun, entertaining and imaginative. Quite enjoyable as a movie!

All the stars! The 1920s Wizarding World comes to glorious life in this darker entry in the Harry Potter universe, more reminiscent of Doctor Who than kid-oriented fantasy. I appreciate the focus on adults as well as new settings and characters. Newt is the most endearing hero, and a great example of House Hufflepuff. Love the niffler!

I love this movie! I love Harry Potter and I am a proud Slytherin! This movie was quite scary but I watched it anyways. I suggest that small kids shouldn't watch it unless they are used to scary movies.

I went into this film not knowing what to expect for an interpretation of Newt Scamander. I was pleasantly charmed with his shyness around other people and the sheer expertise and quiet care he gives the animals. This is someone who has a passion similar to Steve Irwin or the Kratz Brothers but the gentle demeanor of a caretaker.
Kowalski was a close second favorite in this movie with his reactions to the American wizarding world. He acts as an audience surrogate in these moments with his awe and minor disbelief, and he eventually takes things in stride just as we should. The relationship between Queenie and him is so adorable, it's painful.
I came for the established franchise and stayed for the wonderful cast of characters. Quite magical!

Are all No-Majs like you?
-No, I'm the only one like me.
There's loads like me.
-No. No. There's only one like you.
You were thrown out of Hogwarts for endangering human life...
-That was an accident!
With a beast. Yet one of your teachers argued strongly against your expulsion. What makes Albus Dumbledore so fond of you?
Six shots of gigglewater and a lobe blaster, please.
Quiet life for me from now on. Back to the Ministry. Deliver my manuscript.
-I'll look out for it. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
I was, I was never even supposed to be here. I was never supposed to know any of this. Everybody knows Newt only kept me around because... Newt, why did you keep me around?
He has broken one of our most sacred laws.
-A law that has us scuttling like rats in the gutter!
