It really boggles the mind why inferior screenwriters (and their producers) have to concoct made-up stories about the Tudors, when there were already so many incidents in their lives just calling out to be dramatized. It actually worries me that viewers unfamiliar with English history will think that this fantasy about Elizabeth I is her true story. Cate Blanchett is a good actor, but this film is an embarrassment. Try one of the better versions with Helen Mirren, Anne-Marie Duff, or even the one from years back with Glenda Jackson. This version is strictly for the naïve.
