This book is #10 in the Inspector Salvo Montalbano series. This one has a good overall story, but the author seemed to be at a loss for how to make the book long enough and the result that there are way too many segments about getting away from the summer heat by swimming or by stripping down and locking the office door and discussions of dripping clothes etc.; also, one could easily see through at least parts of the story even when trying not to do so; but at least the myriad food bits are relatively short and easy to skip around; and I did not see the ending coming, which saved things at least a bit; this book contains a bit of a paean to the writing skills of the highly-aclaimed Swedish writing team of Sjöwall and Wahlöö from the 1960s
