I have a problem with Roman Polanski as a person, but as a director, ya gotta credit him. This film is stylish, sophisticated and polished. It is a film that Hitchcock would make, were he in his prime today. Based on the book by Robert Harris (most famous for Fatherland), it is a tight, atmospheric thriller with a lot of very plausible background. The Pierce Brosnan character is based on Tony Blair. This should be required viewing after seeing The Queen, if only to erase the whitewashed character of Blair in that film.
