I said in my review for The 5th Wave that this is not normally my style, but I really like this series. This book picks up not long after The 5th Wave, with the survivors of that book still in peril. The book is dark, with more bloodshed and morally ambiguous choices. It seemed like the first book alternated between view points more. The last part of this book is dominated by one character, and I would have liked there to be more variety. The timeline isn't always clear either, especially when the characters are separated. Overall, the series continues to show how far these characters are willing to go in order to survive, how far they're willing to go to protect each other, and how they have to come to terms with the trauma they've been through.
