When I read this book I presumed that all the details on the JFK assassination were fiction. I checked, and he didn't make any author's notes on that. So I was quite surprised when I watched a documentary some time later entitled 'Did The Mob Kill Kennedy?" and realized that I knew the story. I had read a lot of it in The Bone Tree. Also, I recognized some of the names linked to JFK assassination. I wish I'd known at the time that a lot of what the author said about the Kennedy assassination was based on a very credible theory of the assassination, and that some of the people mentioned were real people. All the dots connect just the way he connected them in the book. The part about the Klan being involved was not in the documentary -- I believe these are fictional characters. However, what was mentioned, is that a lot of people believe there was a second shooter, that Oswald had back up. They didn't mention a theory that was put forward in the book -- that the rifle Oswald was using was not good enough to make the shot that killed Kennedy. That is a theory I've heard before, and I think is probably true. I wanted to let readers know this about the JFK content in the book.
