In this humorous historical novel, Henry Montague is an uneducated bisexual upper class English rogue who embarks on an ill-conceived tour of Europe dragging his best friend Percy and brainy sister Felicity along for the bumpy carriage ride. Poor Henry is trapped in a society which does not accept homosexuality, but that doesn't stop his romantic feelings towards Percy. I enjoyed the comically fast-paced plot, but found the characters a bit flat. Even worse, the repetitive silly jokes grew tiresome after a few hundred pages and the central romance plot didn't do anything for me.
